Gearing Up For Camp NaNoWriMo

I’ve been preparing this month for Camp NaNoWriMo, which begins on April 1. On Instagram, I have been participating in a prep challenge, and because it’s getting down to the wire, yesterday’s challenge was to prep your writing space. I was glad for that, because mine needed it. Not only did I tidy up the area, but I dusted my desk and put new writing inspiration on my cork board. I kinda love my little writing corner, and now it’s Camp NaNoWriMo ready!

Today’s prep mission was to do a word sprint practice. I fired up Scrivener (an excellent writing app) and picked a scene to write. On my phone, I pulled up my favorite writing music and set the timer for 25 minutes. My inner editor did get in the way a bit (I really need to work on keeping her quiet!), but I did write the entire scene. 551 words! And I don’t totally hate it! I’d call that a successful word sprint practice.

I hope this bodes well for my Camp NaNoWriMo project!
