Getting Back On the Horse

August was not a good writing month for me. At. All.

What happened to me happens to all writers at some point. At least I hope I’m not the only one! Essentially, life got in the way and I either had little time or little energy to write. Things are better now and I’m ready to get back on the horse, as they say.

So since this is the start of a new month, I have made myself a schedule and I’m going to try my hardest to stick to it. I won’t be able to write every single day, but I do have days in the week that are dedicated only to writing, and I feel pretty good about that. On days that I don’t write (or edit), then I will do something writerly, like come up with story ideas, make an inspiration board on Pinterest, or look for inspiring quotes for motivation.

I am behind on my current WIP since August was a washout, but I’ll have to find a way to be okay with that if I can’t catch up. I’d much rather take more time and put out a book that I’m proud of instead of rushing to publish something that’s not the best it could be. I will have to get out of my own way and modify the plan I had decided on in my mind and on paper. That’s not always easy to do, but not impossible.

I have found that in my life, and especially since I’ve decided to fit writing into it, that sometimes I just have to roll with the punches.
